Travelling to Singapore? Here’s Everything You Need to Know.

After more than a year of border closures, Singapore finally reopened its sunny shores to Malaysia with the highly anticipated Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) in November 2021.

The VTL allowed fully vaccinated individuals to travel between Malaysia and Singapore without quarantine, subject to Covid-19 testing and further requirements determined by the receiving country.

With the success of the VTL, Singapore announced on March 24th that it will be completely opening up its borders to fully vaccinated travellers from April 1st, abolishing the arrival tests as previously required.

That means it has become easier to travel to Singapore! Whether it’s to reunite with family and friends after nearly such a long separation, or to explore the fun sights that Singapore has to offer.

Here’s what you need to know about travelling to Singapore with the new Vaccinated Travel Framework (VTF) that has replaced the VTL.

*Disclaimer: Do note that entry requirements and quarantine information are subject to change. The information that’s published here is accurate at the time of writing. We highly advise you to do your own research before planning your trip!

Who can travel to Singapore?

Any fully vaccinated individual can travel to Singapore from 1st April 2022. Children aged below 12 do not have to be fully vaccinated. You do not need to have a booster shot to travel.

Do I need to take a Covid test?

The previously required pre-departure PRC or rapid test has been scrapped in the new VTF scheme from April 26th onwards. On-arrival tests are also not required, which means you do not need to take a single test to travel to Singapore.

Do I need to quarantine in Singapore?

From April 1st onwards, travellers will no longer need to quarantine upon arrival.

What documents do I need?

There are no longer any entry approvals required for entry into Singapore, but travellers still have to fill in the SG Arrival Card before arriving. This does not apply to those who are transiting/transferring through Singapore without passing through immigration clearance.

You should also prepare your proof of vaccination and upload it to the Vaccination Check Portal (VCP) if you have a Digitally-verifiable Vaccination Certificate (DV) recognised by Singapore.

This optional step is for traveller’s assurance and to facilitate document checks.

What mode of transportation can I use?

You may travel to Singapore on any mode of transportation, such as flight, bus, ship, or private vehicles, as opposed to taking designated VTL flights and buses as previously required.

Is there a quota for travellers?

There are no quotas for arrival in Singapore.

Do I need travel insurance?

Travellers who are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to purchase travel insurance from April 1st onwards. However, it is still encouraged as a safeguard against any unforeseen circumstances.

Can I still travel to Singapore if I'm not fully vaccinated?

Non-fully vaccinated short-term visitors are not allowed entry into Singapore except for visitors with other valid entry approval, such as compassionate reasons.
