In the spirit of Ramadan, here is how you can Give with Ikhlas

Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, where Muslims around the world fast from dawn to sunset each day, and focus on their thoughts and actions.

This year, Ramadan is coupled with challenges from COVID19 that have kept most of us at home, affecting a large number of communities around the world financially. Thankfully, there are ways we can still help others from the comfort of our homes.

In the spirit of Ramadan, here are ways to reflect and help others in need.

Personal and financial reflections

Before you help others, it is important to first help yourself. For Muslims, Ramadan is a perfect time and opportunity to reflect on their promises made from the previous one and look ahead in the direction of where they’d want to be. The goal is to be consistently in a state of awareness, moving towards better thoughts and actions.

As Muslims around the world take a deeper dive into reflecting on themselves, you too can take the opportunity to reflect on your personal habits around finances. The act of reflecting has great benefits such as allowing you to see how far you’ve come and will help you fine-tune your progress in order to achieve your goals.

Giving to communities in need

Through Ramadan, everyone learns to be more compassionate towards the less fortunate. By participating in charity, we become more appreciative and aware of what we have and how we can play a role in making others’ lives better with kind deeds.

This is why we partnered with Ikhlas, a public digital donation initiative that allows individuals and organisations to give to those in need during Ramadan. ‘Give with Ikhlas’ donations will be used to support the less fortunate which include the underprivileged families, refugees and non-profit organisations that run soup kitchens and orphanages. Donations received will also be used to support frontliners of COVID-19 and local businesses that are affected by the pandemic.

If you’d like to learn more about Give with Ikhlas, read all about it here.

Donating through BigPay

Thanks to the advancement of technology, it has given us much easier and accessible access to do good. You can now ‘Give with Ikhlas’ directly from your BigPay app with a simple few clicks to donate to charity.

Note: This feature is only available on the Android app at the moment.

All you need to do is head over to your BigPay app and click on the Payments tab. Once you’ve done that, click on Donations and enter the amount you wish to donate, confirm your payment and you’ll get a receipt after the transaction to indicate it is complete. It’s that simple.

If you do not see the Donations tile on your Payments tab, that means you will need to update your BigPay app to the latest version in order to get this feature. We do not charge any fees for donations.

The act of giving has been known to make us happier, so why not donate, spread some generosity and help someone in need this Ramadan.
